The story behind the artwork

Corolla is a botanical term referring to the inner envelope of floral leaves in a flower. The movement implied in my corolla is slow and fluid, as if the object has been slowed by the weight of themselves or are in fact underwater. Here begins a connection to the sea and underwater life that is another common theme in my work. Blue corolla could be interpreted as a botanical image or it could represent the interior of a sea sponge.
