The
story behind the artwork
Bodhi is a Sanskrit word which means "awakening." The bodhi tree is a prominent icon of the Buddhist religion. Buddha (Siddhartha Gautama, the spiritual teacher and founder of Buddhism) achieved enlightenment while in meditation underneath a bodhi tree. A variety of fig, the tree is recognizable by its heart-shaped leaves.
