The
story behind the artwork
As a
climber, cracks present a seductive lure. When presented with a crack
in a rock face, my climber's mind immediately begins to assess it. Just
by looking at a crack, I can almost feel the pressure on my fingers, similar
to how my mouth might water watching someone cut into a fresh juicy mango.
My fingers form the contortions they may require to secure themselves
within it. Inside the dark realm between the rock parts there may be secret
knobs or pockets to discover and delight in. The heavily textured painting,
cracks, is a tribute to the described sensation.
The art is not meant to be touched, but you are meant to want
to touch it.
