The
story behind the artwork
Part of my "elements"
series that focuses on desert landscapes, echo
explores the element of sound experienced within the depths of a slot
canyon. Based on the echo chamber within an actual slot canyon in Zion
National Park, the painting represents the repetitive vibration of sounds
as they bounce along the curves of the sculpted canyon walls. Whether
it is the sound of water dropping or the sudden crash of a loose rock,
every sound resonates with the same repetition of an echo.
By combining highly
texturized canvases with metallic paints a unique shimmering landscape
appears that varies according to light source and viewpoint. A must see
in person!
