FINDING ART IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD
A Local Artist Explores Alternate Exhibition Opportunities

Painter and Las Vegas resident, Bonnie Kelso, is showing her nature-inspired artwork at multiple locations during the month of May. She will be exhibiting and demonstrating at two special events held by the Art Center at Neonopolis on Fremont Street where she shares a studio space with artist Teresa Testa. They will also be sharing a booth together this year at the ArtFest of Henderson on May 9 & 10. Kelso will have a solo show throughout the month of May at Art Starts Here, a Summerlin Art School. Her work can also be seen currently at the Northwest Yoga Studio on Ann Road. As a member of the Vegas Artists Guild, she will be participating in the VAG Annual Spring Show at the College of Southern Nevada’s Cheyenne Campus.

“There are so many opportunities around us, it’s just a matter of taking time to investigate the possibilities!” says an enthused Kelso. “With the economy the way it is, we need to be extra smart and creative about running our businesses these days. Collaborative efforts are a great way to share expense and risk. The payoffs can be richly rewarding, sometimes in unexpected ways.”

In February, Kelso was the featured artist at Studio 8 Ten, located at 810 Las Vegas Blvd. A boutique stationary store sponsored by Transitional Service, Inc. Kelso found the experience of working with this non-profit organization with artistic goals an eye-opening experience. "I had to give a little of myself to participate, but what I got back was so much more than I put in to it! And I'm not talking about financial benefits. Nurturing your soul as an artist is one of the best ways to find ultimate success," confesses Kelso. She will be participating with the group again for their "Face to Facebook" exhibit this July.
