Keeping
Cool
It was only 90 degrees in Las Vegas today! The end of summer has come
at last. The art center downtown closed, but it was fun while it lasted.
I'm back at my new and improved home studio again and showing around town
as often as I can. I've been exploring alternative gallery spaces, and
have found great success with it. By partnering with other businesses,
I can reach a whole new audience for my work. I've shown at Studio8Ten
(a boutique gift shop run by Transition Services), Art
Starts Here (a local art school which focuses on children's classes),
Northwest
Yoga Studio, and currently I'm showing at Gaia
(an eco-friendly flower and gift shop). I'm also now represented by 57th
Street Gallery in Oakland, CA, and am part of a rotational Art Walk
at the Canyon Ranch Spa at the Venetian Resort on the strip. I continue
to participate in outdoor art fairs, and had a good time sharing a space
with Teresa
Testa at the Henderson ArtFest this past May. I'm also showing on
a regular basis at Whole Foods Market with the Vegas
Artists Guild, and will have a booth at the Village
Fine Arts Festival at Lakes of Las Vegas this October. Also, anyone
finding themselves in town is invited to come to my artist reception at
Gaia, Thursday, October
1st, from 6 - 8pm.
Fun
with Licensing!
This summer I attended the Art Licensing Expo to try and figure out how
I might fit into the world of Art Licensing. The abundance of information
I collected was pretty overwhelming, but I primarily learned how licensing
can be a great way to reach out to new audiences. I am currently developing
my brand and will make an announcement when it becomes available to the
retail world. Meanwhile, my greeting
cards are doing well at the Red Rock Canyon Visitor Center and my
art watches have been
a big hit!
New
Works
Since my last newsletter I've been getting out into nature as often as
I can. I've waded through a few more canyons, and Ron and I even attempted
to climb Mount Shasta. I've also blogged about my recent adventures, so
I've included the links in case you want to share the journey. (Just click
on the image).

I've continued to
be inspired by sea slugs and the underwater world with the following new
works.

As part of my 2009
new year's resolution, I've been exploring the benefits of meditation
through the assistance of the honorable Bhante Sujatha and the Blue
Lotus Meditation Group. I've also reinstated my yoga practice, and
my painting bodhi is on display at the Northwest
Yoga Studio. I hope to explore these experiences further through painting
in the future.

My most recently completed
work is inspired by a trip to Florida I took with my parents a few weeks
ago to attended a family reunion. This was when I met "the people."
These "people" were not my relatives, but after getting to know
them, I have to wonder. They are the sandhill cranes that live near my
Aunt and Uncle's lake house near Lorida, FL.

As always, thank you
all for allowing me to share my journey with you.
